Changes to Selection Process

From 2026-2028 RANZCOG are implementing several changes to the FRANZCOG Selection Process, including changes to eligibility. Please refer to the explainer statement to find out how these changes may impact you.

The eligibility requirement to obtain the AMC PGY2 Certificate in order to apply for the FRANZCOG Training program in 2027 has been reviewed and has now been withdrawn. Whilst possession of the AMC PGY2 certificate is not required, applicants should consider the implications if they choose not to complete the PGY2 certificate as the lack of this may impact on their future career options should they choose to not proceed with O&G training or are unsuccessful.

Selection

The aim of the selection process is to recruit the most suitable available trainees for the FRANZCOG Training Program, with the objective of producing specialist obstetricians and gynaecologists who best meet the community needs in women’s health across Australia and New Zealand.

FRANZCOG Training Selection is highly competitive and the processes are transparent, rigorous and fair.

The Selection process in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand is conducted separately however, the assessment process in both countries is consistent across the selection criteria.
