About the Environmental and Sustainability Committee (EnSC)

The Environmental and Sustainability Committee (EnSC) reports to the RANZCOG Board via the Governance, Finance, Audit and Risk Management (GFARM) Committee. The EnSC first convened in October 2024, and will advise the College on practices and strategies for future environmental sustainability, and is responsible for:
 

  • Overseeing the College’s Carbon Neutral Project.
  • Advising on strategies to reduce the College’s environmental footprint and embedding these practices into College operations and initiatives as BAU.
  • Advocating for the reduction of the environmental footprint within the O&G profession and health services more broadly.

    Key priorities

    Environmental and sustainability advocacy within the O&G profession.

    Introduce environmental sustainability into the Continuing Professional Development of members and trainees.

    Provide environmental sustainability input into the training curriculum.

    Development of resources for practitioners and pregnant patients about the known impacts of climate change on health.

    Embed sustainability initiatives within College operations.

    Support RANZCOG in becoming carbon neutral.
