About

The RANZCOG NSW State Committee Travelling Scholarships were established in 2017 to support NSW FRANZCOG trainees to train in a developing country in the Asia-Pacific region.

The scholarship funds are provided by the NSW State Committee (previously NSW Regional Committee) of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), and are administered through the RANZCOG Women’s Health Foundation.

The scholarships are intended to:

Provide excellent opportunities for trainees to improve skills in open surgery
Promote a unique perspective on clinical care issues beyond the scope of usual training
Allow the development of clinical skills in a different manner to that available for the majority of locally based training
Contribute to RANZCOG’s commitment to engaging with the Asia-Pacific region on issues of reproductive health

Eligibility

To be eligible for the RANZCOG NSW State Committee Travelling Scholarship, applicants must:



Be a FRANZCOG NSW trainee who occupies a prospectively approved training position in NSW at the time of application.



Be a FRANZCOG NSW trainee who has completed a minimum of 138 weeks FTE (three years) of basic training and has sat and passed the FRANZCOG written examination or is an Advanced trainee at the time of travel. Applicants must apply for and receive Prospective Approval of Training from the NSW Regional TAC Chair via the online portfolio.



Spend three (3) or six (6) months in a developing country located in the Asia-Pacific region and be actively involved in the education of local colleagues; midwifery or medical depending on the setting.



Not have previously been awarded a RANZCOG NSW Asia-Pacific region travelling scholarship to a developing country in the duration of their training.
