About

The RANZCOG Women’s Health Foundation acknowledges the financial challenges experienced by trainees. The Trainee in Financial Difficulty Bursary is intended to support trainees in genuine financial hardship and provide financial assistance that allows them to complete their training.

Bursaries are awarded at the discretion of the Women’s Health Foundation Committee. Decisions are based on greatest need and available funding and the Foundation may award a bursary for all or part of the expenses applied for.

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply for the Trainee in Financial Difficulty Bursary if you:

Are an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident

Are a current FRANZCOG or subspecialty trainee undertaking part-time or full-time training

Are experiencing genuine financial difficulty

Criteria and preference

All applications will be assessed against the following criteria and preference will be given to applicants who have not received previous funding:

The degree of financial need

Preference may be given to trainees from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Background or Māori or Pacific Islander background

Other equity considerations and circumstances, for example:

Special circumstances

Rural/remote

The impact on the wider family

Stage in training

Criticality of workshops/conference, equipment/resources for training

Bursary funds

Up to a total of $60,000 is available annually.

Expenses covered by the bursary

  • Training fees
  • Examination fees
  • Conference/workshop attendance
  • Other training-related professional development
  • Purchase of training resources or equipment

Apply

Standard applications are open from the issue of training invoices in late November and close mid-January. Applications can also be made at other times of the year on a case-by-case basis, funding permitting.
